Islam and Christianity

Hmmm...
Where to start?
Both faiths have absolute faith that their One God is the one, loves them, and will take believers into Paradise/Heaven after their mortal days end.
There are many similar values...knowing where you're going is a huge factor!
In the end however, I don't think anyone made quite such outrageous claims as Jesus (I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no one comes to the Father but by me)...
This is posted in the hope that maybe some informed/thoughtful discussion might be generated.
So, let's go!

  1. Thanks to Ian M for getting the discussion ball rolling on this blogpost.
Would you like to continue with your line of inquiry?

    Grace.
    The magic/oil/x-factor/power in our lives...
To be found in One Another, and certainly in the arms of Jesus.

When one encounters a being in whom Grace is present, one knows all will be well...
For me, specifically, this has been expressed by and to me through the act of hugging.
It may be embarrassing for some to tell you who my best huggers are (I am always open to rehearsing/auditioning more huggers!), but I do know who they are, and relish their visits - their approaches and departures.

On Tuesday 29th June I was privileged to hug Yusuf Islam twice...his hug was confident, solid, energised and full of grace.
Does he seem like the kind of guy who may worry about crazy fans doing what crazy fans do?
The truth, the grace, the power is in that hug.

Grace happens a lot in unexpected places...I don't know if Islam has a doctrine of no grace allowed, but I do know that practitioners of the Islamic faith often demonstrate lives touched by Grace, and dispensing such.

Without IT, we may as well all dig our own holes now and lie down in them.
    Thanks, Ian, for your starter!

  2. The word grace is clearly used in many ways. Yes, charity is one of the five pillars of Islam, and of course hospitality should be important to any religious person. But (at the risk of making an outrageous pun) arms-giving is not what I was referring to.

Religions are ways of life. The relationship we have with God has more important consequences, on a more important scale.

    Grace.
    The magic/oil/x-factor/power in our after-lives.
I suggest it is only to be found one place.
